Once a Cinderella

Alone and dressed in rags

Longing for her prince to come

And carry her away

To a magic kingdom

Where wishes all come true

Where she would be the prince’s bride

And everything is new

Oh please one day, she’d say…

Life went on around her

But she never felt alive

She did the tasks required

Put in her nine to five

Every night she’d go to bed

Exhausted from the day

And as she drifted off to sleep

Please one day, she’d say…

One day my prince will come

And ask me for my hand

One day  I know he’ll love me

And take me to the land

Where we’ll live happily ever after

A story of love in every chapter

Please one day, she’d say…

One day a knock came to her door

An unexpected guest

When she answered there He was

(But she was such a mess!)

She wanted to apologize

For looking as she did

He smiled and offered her a box

So she opened up the lid

Inside there was a lovely shoe

And tears soon filled her eyes

As she slipped her foot into the shoe

To find it just her size

Why would he bring this gift to her?

She didn’t understand

Until she looked into His eyes

And He asked her for her hand

Was this one day?  She’d say…

Today my Prince has come

And asked me for my hand

Today  I know He loves me

And will take me to the land

Where we’ll live happily ever after

A story of love in every chapter

Today is one day, she’d say…

The Prince turned Cinderella

Into something new

A lovely princess and His bride

The day she said, “I do”
