Tonight I sit in a hotel room. I have had an amazing time with God tonight. Crying. Talking. Wrestling. Praying. Reading. Writing. Singing. It has been a night much needed. And Jesus met me here at the Marriott and truly did not disappoint. And it has been more than I anticipated…
But earlier today I spent time with my precious friend Terra who moved to Portland about six months ago with her family. Her husband, Billy, took a position as the worship pastor at Red Sea Church in the St. Johns area. They are loving it here and today I got to see a little bit into their world.
They live right in the heart of the St. John’s area, very close to the St. John’s bridge. The area is scenically beautiful and culturally diverse. We walked from their house to the church and saw lots of funky local shops and quaint little houses and lots and lots of trees and beautiful flowers. The church itself has gotten completely involved in the surrounding community. They even planted a large garden this year to help local people have access to free fresh produce. They are a church who is real and who really, literally, loves their neighbors. Awesome!
