The sting of the tears
In her red rimmed eyes
Burn as they fall
And her weary heart cries
How many times
Can the human heart break
Before all the crushing
Is all it can take?
Do the tears keep it soft?
Does the pain keep it strong?
Can it keep from callousing
When it’s hurt this long?
All of these questions
Spin in her head
She wants to be strong
But is so weak instead
She’s given it all
It’s still not enough
The warrior is tired
She wants to give up
She knows well that pain
Is a part of this life
That there will be times
Of heartache and strife
But this night she prays
For His soft hand to hold
What remains of her heart
So it won’t grow cold
Gather the tears
That now blur her eyes
And help her see clearly
Your plan in disguise.
Hold her fragile heart
In the palm of Your hand
And show her these tears
Are all part of the plan
Tomorrow will come
Please bring a fresh start
With new tears of joy
And a new, softer heart…
