This was maybe one of our best Fourth of July’s ever!
It started last night…After church we went to dinner with my friend Kim at this AMAZING bbq place…a little hole in the wall place that just had incredible food. Delicious! Then we came home and went out on the back porch to watch Parker’s fireworks display. We knew that it was going to be at the park that our home overlooks and that we would have an unobstructed view. What we didn’t know was that it would be such a big deal! Thousands of people had gathered for this thing. There were bands playing patriotic and armed forces music for an hour ahead of time. And we could hear and see it all from our comfy chairs on the patio. There were tributes and cheers and just this amazing old fashioned sense of patriotism and love of country. It felt like a flashback to times past, when America was younger and the pace was slower and people gathered to celebrate their beloved country’s birthday. As I sat there with my family in my pajamas with my blanket wrapped around me, I smiled. We all loved it and had never really experienced anything like it before. And that was before the fireworks even started.
The show was beautiful and breathtaking. And all we had to do was look straight ahead to see absolutely all of it. Incredible. Blake said that he felt like patriotism was just flowing through him. It was a really great time. A time we won’t ever forget.
And that was only the third of July! Today, we went to celebrate with some people that we met at church last night. We met some wonderful couples and families there. Real, genuine, easy to be with and talk to type people. People that I can tell are going to become some of our new Colorado friends. It was wonderful. After a few hours there, we came home to join a gathering of all of our new neighbors and got to meet them and find out a little about their lives. It was a fantastic turnout and everyone seemed really excited to become acquainted.
Friday I was feeling a little lonely and isolated. Hungry for interaction with peers and to meet new people and make new friends. And I think that Jesus more than answered for all of us this weekend. God provided great people all weekend long. And again, I am so very thankful… 🙂 And I hope that your fourth was just as glorious!!!!
