Well, that was a crazy weekend!  Abby and I went and helped Britt find her wedding dress along with two of her girlfriends and her fiancee’s sister.  She had made appointments at two different bridal shops.  We walked in the first one and began our search.  We were told to find six to eight dresses to start off with.  We had six when Abby called Britt to come over and look at one she had found.  Britt said she would try it on, but was not highly impressed.  but for some reason, Abby knew it was going to look beautiful on her.

They took us all to the seating area in front  of the huge stage and gigantic mirrors.  Meanwhile, they helped Britt with her dress, getting her ready to come out and wow us.  We sat there giggling in anticipation, watching other brides to be modeling their dresses.  And then it happened.  Out came my baby girl.  Only she didn’t look like a baby girl.  She looked like a beautiful woman, glowing, elegant, very much in love.  The dress could not have been more her.  It captured the essence of Brittany.  It drew you to her beauty, not just its own.  I cried.

She tried on more dresses, each of them beautiful, but none of them could compare with the first one – the one that her sister knew would be the one.  Everyone’s reaction was the same.  The first dress was THE one.  We made her try it on again.  Now Brendan’s sister cried.  Britt looked at me with that same impish grin she had when she was four and said, “Mama, I really like this one! This is it!”  Everyone cheered and hugged.  And I pulled out my wallet… 🙂

Since we didn’t have to go to the next appointment, we all went to lunch to celebrate.  Britt shared that she had actually prayed that morning that the process would be quick as she hates shopping.  First dress, first place.  God answered that one!

It was a wonderful weekend of celebrating Brendan and Brittany and visiting with good friends.  And it felt really good to get home around midnight last night and fall into my own bed to dream of future weddings!!!! This was only the beginning….

Let's stay connected!

I promise to send some encouragement your way, and a bit of hope for the soul...
