I am so lovin’ setting up home all over again! A new yard to work on, new flowers to plant in pots on the porches, rooms to decorate, setting up my own creative area in the basement. The things that I am passionate about and that energize me. Taking a blank slate and making it ours and making it a warm and inviting place for others to come and feel loved, safe, and relaxed.
And now I am ready to invite those people in. Where will I find them? Well, I can start with the easy ones – my friend Kim who lives in Parker, our amazing realtor and his wife, the couple that is doing all of our window treatments. These are the easy and automatic connections. But where do I go from there? Well, I’ve been forced to spend quite a bit of time at Starbucks lately and have met several people here. I met a couple of our neighbors and their baby and am planning on inviting them for dinner soon. Tonight we are going to try our first church here, and hopefully, will meet some people there. But one of the things that I love here is how easy it is to meet people. They are extremely friendly and helpful and really want to carry on a conversation. So there is no excuse for me not to reach out and become involved in some of these people’s lives. The people at Starbucks and Home Depot and Hobby Lobby and Goodwill and all the other places that I will frequent as I settle in here and at some point start a business. (On that note, I may have just found my first client – a gal I met at Starbucks!)
Blake is at camp this week, so Abby has been finding her way around town, looking for a job, checking out schools, etc. Last night she went to apply at a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant and ended up meeting and chatting with some great people who are heavily involved in Young Life and told her about the church that we are going to try out tonight. I just love the “random” ways that God chooses to bring people together…simply amazing…
I feel a deep peace here. As if I have finally arrived home. A place where my “round peg” actually fits into the perfect “round hole”. A place where I can breathe deeply, sigh happily, and reflect contentedly. Thank you, Jesus, for my Colorado home. Help me to make it as homey as possible and open my doors as wide as possible to all the people that you choose to come through them. Mi casa es su casa, Jesus…
