I woke up to life
In the arms of a girl
She held me inside
Til I came to this world
The look of love
That I found in her eyes
Was sent from above
My angel in disguise
That look stayed put
In my terrible twos
When I stomped my foot
Strong willed through and through
Years later I still saw
That love in her eyes
When I fought with my brother
And pinched him sometimes
Somehow she still loved me
When she birthed another
And I said selfishly,
“I don’t want one more brother!”
The teen years came
And still she was there
Her love still the same
When it seemed I didn’t care
Through eating disorders
And boyfriends and such
The love in those eyes
Was the much needed touch
Those same eyes saw my wedding
And all that would bring
Like pregnancy, babies
And colic and things
Sometimes tears
Were the way love shone through
When I lost my sweet child
She lost her baby, too
Mama, how do I thank you
For all your love does?
How you nurture and care
And give just because
There are no words
To say all that you’ve been,
All that you are
And will be again
Your love took me places
I could never have gone
The look in your eyes
Made me want to press on
Happy Mother’s Day, sweet Mama
I love you to the skies
And will ever be thankful
For the love in your eyes…
Love you, Mom!!!!! So much!!!!!
Thank you my beautiful daughter. You are the one who made me a mom, and I will never forget when I called my mom and dad to tell them about “my gift from Heaven”, I just cried and said how happy I was to have my baby girl. I still thank God every day for you. I love you so much. Thank you for the beautiful poem. You have a wonderful Mother’s Day too.
Hugs and kisses, Mom
