I love this – Psalm 8:2 (The Message) -” Nursing infants gurgle choruses about you; toddlers shout the songs that drown out enemy talk and silence atheist babble.”
As a mom, I get a very vivid word picture from this. There is nothing more precious than your baby looking up and smyling and cooing at you while nursing, or your toddler singing her favorite song shamelessly at the top of her lungs. I think that’s the kind of praise and adoration that God is looking for as our daddy. Us looking up at our provider and smyling with the sheer contentment of being right next to Him in that sweet place of intimacy. Lettting our love for Him flow freely out of us like an uninhibited preschooler, joyful and exuberant.
Jesus loves kids and everything they are and represent. He asks us to learn from them…Mark 10:14-16 -“He said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’ And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.”
We need to mature in our relationship with Jesus, to understand and become more like Him. But our heart condition of love and adoration need to stay childlike and sweet – honest, transparent, dependent, joyful, trusting and unashamed. Like a gurgling infant and a singing toddler…
