I hate frogs. They terrify me. They’re jumpy and slimy and ugly and I am known to have nightmares about them. But in a devotional that I am going through, they used the acronym FROG for Fully Relying On God. And since it is my passion to aim to do that, FROG is going to become a new part of my vocabulary.
The passage for today was II Chronicles 15-16. It was talking about how at the first of his reign, Asa was a king who relied fully upon God for strength, success, victory and peace. And God gave him all of that and more. But at the end of his reign, his faith seemed to dwindle and he relied on others instead of God, robbing himself of all that God had to offer him. Instead of looking back on God’s faithfulness and goodness that he had experienced when he looked to Him, he became bitter and died with a disease that he looked to doctors for, but never asked God for healing.
How much do we miss out on because we are looking to fix our own problems, or run our own lives or look to others to help us do that? We have the power of the King of the universe, our God and Savior, our very best friend who knows us better than we know ourselves, right there for the asking. II Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” He is looking for us to do that. He is waiting. He is right there.
Fully Relying On God. Wanna FROG with me????
