The makings of coal
But I had a plan
To create a diamond
In the palm of my hand
So I formed you in the depths
Deep below the surface
Though dark, I was there
The depth had a purpose
To take you to a place
Where you only saw me
And the love that extended
Even past what you see
This readied your heart
For the pressure that came
Where you longed for relief
From the ache of the pain
And I’d squeeze your hand
To remind you I was there
To bear the weight with you
Your burden to share
The temperature rose
And so did your fear
How could you survive?
You asked through your tears
So I blew my cool breath
To lessen the heat
Held your face in my hands
And kissed both your cheeks
Time seemed to stand still
As you waited and yearned
For an end to the process
What more could be learned?
Now it was time
To polish and file
To smooth the rough edges
And cut for a while
It hurt me to know
That the trimming brought pain
But I knew what I was doing
That this loss would bring gain
And I held you there
In the palm of my hand
And saw the fruition
Of my glorious plan
There you were, such a beauty
“unbreakable, untamed”
A true “adamas”
Just like you were named
Your beauty unmatched
Strength more than enough
My priceless treasure
My diamond in the rough
That is too funny. Wish that i’d been there with you!!
